I tried to create a portrait of love
In all that I live and I see
Portrait keeps growing, bigger and bigger
Landscape full and carefree
With beautiful colours, delightful and brilliant
A heart becoming strong and resilient
This portrait of life, is it yours? Is it mine?
Such a delightful design
This canvas of love, portrait so bright
Take it all in, savour each bite
The highs and the lows, A portrait that glows
With Sparkles and infinite light
I tried to paint a life full of riches
Reaching great heights, falling in ditches
I tried to paint a portrait of bliss
Girl with a dream, man with a kiss

Clouds shaped like hearts floating above
A girl walking hand in hand with her beau
Sun is shining, everything just so
I tried to create a portrait of truth
Where everyone matters, not only youth
A portrait of beauty, an elderly Sage
A woman of wisdom and infinite age
This canvas of love, portrait so bright

Always on the outside, apart, looking in…
It feels like a prison, her heart breaks from within
The pain she feels, abandoned, alone
Never enough when she’s on her own
She stifles her cries as she tries to thicken her skin
The beginning of the end, my friends-the first sin
It Takes two to tango, two to play game
Two to tango-always one to blame
It’s a damn fandango, driving her insane
no one ever really wins-three sins
To want protection, too much to ask?
Honesty, disclosure, discard the mask
You promised her trust through thick and thin
Slowly eroding, that was the second sin.

more than she could chew- her voracious appetite
She sauntered from the garden- headed for new heights
She said, “my love Adam I must see different sights”
He followed her out- of the garden of Eden
Tried to keep up with her lithe body speeding
Each step she would take- further she would lead him

she knew of it’s knowledge -She wildly did eat

Now some say that eve never had a choice
But I think that Eve simply found her voice

If an apple meant freedom- she would rejoice

How can you know the good from the bad-
When a perfect kind of bliss is all that you’ve had
So Eve she was bold and full of adventure
Adam was brave-he followed though unsure
Into the unknown… their sails they unfurled
Off to explore and discover other worlds

So many years, driven by her fears
Like a mouse on a hamster wheel
In circles she ran, always with a plan
Pushing back the doubt she would feel
Driven- so long- so hard-so fast
Running from habits enforced by her past
Was action her addiction?Did plans ease her friction
Who signed her up for a life subscription
Driving, striving -incessant self-lying
Had to be a better way of surviving
Sometimes fields need to lay fallow
Thoughts so deep need to be shallow
No matter the reason, no matter the rhyme
She enters a season by her own design
Found all her seeds overtaken by weeds
Though she feels failure- she has to concede…

She let’s go of her old inclination-
No plans in her head…no destination
No longer running- she needs to be still
She’s run out of steam, sits with her guilt
